25May09 | Tommy John Second Skin Review By Industry Expert

Andy Gilchrist of Ask Andy About Clothes recently reviewed the new Second Skin Collection.

Andy spent his career as a defense contractor, but always had a love for fashion.  The Manhattan Beach based (Los Angeles), retiree, is a popular fashion expert and now runs his own website www.askandyaboutclothes.com. He is also the author of “The Encyclopedia of Men’s Clothes.

Here are some stats on Andy's website:

  • It is the world's most popular site by traffic count for men's clothing advice.
  • Highest trafficked web forum for Men's Fashion with the greatest number of members
  • Over 500,000 web hits a day

Andy is a super guy and one of the most knowledgeable there is on everything from ascots to Zegnas to undershirts.  He thoroughly reviews clothing and is not afraid to tell you what he likes and dislikes about them.  To have the amount of web traffic he does, says a ton about him and the visitors on his website.  The advice is extremely helpful and he doesn’t charge a dime for it.  We, routinely, refer to his website when we have clothing questions ourselves and find his forums to be unbelievably helpful.

Fortunately for us, he loves his Tommy John gear from the Second Skin Collection.  Click here to see his most recent review.

16May09 | Tommy John now offered through the Trunk Club

Tommy John was recently mentioned in an undershirt review by Lisa Bruckner of the Trunk Club. We sent Lisa a Stay Tucked Undershirt for her husband to review and she ended up writing a very thorough review based on her husband’s feedback. You can read the full review here... we particularly liked how she had a hard time getting the shirt back from her husband once he tried it:

"The challenge; every time I would wash and fold the Tommy John undershirt, intending to use it the next morning for my video, my husband would somehow find it and wear it before I could stop him."

Tommy John has now partnered with the Trunk Club.  The Trunk Club is based out of Bend, Oregon and is “Revolutionizing the way Men buy clothes”.

How Trunk Club Works: If you’re a guy who doesn’t like to shop, or doesn’t have time to shop, you just communicate to your personal expert at Trunk Club what you’re looking for and they do the work for you.  You get handpicked clothing sent to your home and you only pay for what you keep.

Membership is free.  Our founder, Tom, has already joined himself.  If you’d like to apply for free membership, check it out here. We’ll keep supplying you with undershirts, underwear, and comfortable tee’s and the Trunk Club can get you everything else you need, WITHOUT having to go to 8 zillion different stores trying things on.

Their customers hold them to a high standard and put a great amount of trust in them to ensure they provide them with quality clothing at an affordable price.  We are very excited that they feel so comfortable recommending Tommy John to their clients.

15May09 | As summer approaches, Tommy John has you covered

The Tommy John outerwear collection has been very popular among our current undershirt customers. Sam Luchessi of NYC has never been able to find undershirts that work.  He has run through the gammet of undershirts at department store. You name the brand, he's tried them.  He was sick of his undershirts turning into dish rags or shirts that he painted the house in, so when he stumbled upon Tommy John undershirts, this is what he had to say:

"At the age of 35, I FINALLY have an undershirt that works for me! I am 6' 2" and only 150 pounds. Until last week, I never sensed that a shirt maker could achieve an accurate fit (too short, bulky, unflattering, etc.). To boot, Tommy John is versatile: I can leave work, get on my bicycle and head to the park without having to carry an extra bag or stop and change. After one becomes aware of such a fine product, you may instinctively find yourself moving your entire t-shirt collection into the rag pile. I have already told many people what a tremendous product Tommy John has created and hope to enjoy the quality for years to come."

Sam recently like the Second Skin fabric so much, that he ordered several of the styles offered in our outerwear collection.   Here is a picture of him in the Royal Blue Casual Crew Tee.   Looking good, Sam!

14May09 | Tommy John Review on iwearyourshirt.com

Jason Sadler from www.iwearyourshirt.com wore some Tommy John gear today.  He wore both the Crew Neck Stay Tucked Undershirt and the Blue Long Sleeve Casual Tee from the new Tommy John Second Skin Collection.

Jason is selling the upper-half of his wardrobe (shirts). He is selling every day of the year at face value, so January 1 is $1 and December 31 is $365. He is almost sold out through the end of the year.  It’s a genius idea and we love Jason’s passion and entrepreneurial spirit. Jason is a witty guy with a great sense of humor.  This video captures part of his day in his Tommy John shirts and the “butt dance” at the end is classic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74smreKnehE

With 365 different shirts to wear, we're very happy to share what Jason said about the Tommy John Second Skin Collection: “Today’s casual long sleeve shirt from Tommy John is by far the absolute softest and most comfortable shirt by a long shot!”  Jason’s response says it all.  Unfortunately, we haven’t figured out a way for you to feel our shirts through your computer - but once you order one, you'll understand.

As you can see below, the ladies can't stop touching the Tommy John fabric.
